The
Egyptian revolution, Hope for a better future
The Egyptian
revolution is still in its transitional period and, accordingly, its
anticipated fruits have not all been reaped yet. However it brought about a lot
of hope for us and for future generations. The revolution, which
has been described by world leaders and media as the most civilized and peaceful
one, started by thousands of Egyptian
pro-democracy youth demanding more freedom and demonstrating for better
conditions. However, it ended
dramatically with a great change in Egypt's history through changing
the whole regime beginning with Mubarak's stepping down.
The
scale of the protests came as a blow to all those who have been betting that a
sleeping dragon will continue its slumberسبات .
For three decades now, Egyptians have been kept on a tight leash قيد,
fed more with promises than with bread. Egyptian grievancesمظالم have been numerous. Finally, Our youth have
made it and the president stepped down from authority. Finally, people
felt the taste of freedom and dignity.
The fruits of this revolution are countless. First, it
opened the way for democracy and freedom which Egyptians longed for for a long
time. A judicial committee was formed to draft changes to Egypts constitution so that
Egyptians would really be able to choose their leaders and representatives. In
addition, nearly all detainees of thought have been set free. More over, all
figures of corruption have been tried and their assets have been frozen. The
revolution opened people's eyes to a new type of life full of freedom and
dignity. So many fruits but to name this is just a few.
However, there is an important question: what next and
what is our role to maintain this revolution? First of all it is worth saying
that we need a great revolution against our bad habits. We don't only
want political and social reformsإصلاحات , but we need to change our behaviour as
well. We need no corrupts فاسدين, bribed مرتشين nor disloyal. Of course We
should fight corruption by all means. We
need to unite young and old,
Muslim and Christian, rich and poor, educated and not so-educated to
restore calmness and security and rebuild our country. We need a new beginning
in every aspect of life.
The world's look at Egyptians has changed
completely. Hence, we mustn’t lose this position and work hard to invest the
fruits of the revolution and prove that we deserve all this respect and
admiration. Allah is Great, Long live Egypt
and sincere prayers to our martyrsشهداء .
